Aerin on Evelyn’s Legacy
Our Style and Image Director and the Founder
and Creative Director of AERIN talks about her late aunt,
the visionary Evelyn H. Lauder.
Evelyn had amazing passion for raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research. She never stopped pursuing her dream to find a cure and traveled all over the world making this dream a reality.–Aerin Lauder
Beginning with the co-creation of the Pink Ribbon, the now universal symbol for breast health, Evelyn H. Lauder boldly launched The Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) Campaign in 1992. Its mission: to defeat breast cancer through education and medical research during a time when the disease simply wasn't part of the cultural conversation. Today, The BCA Campaign spans more than 70 countries and has raised $58 million to support research, education and medical services, with nearly $46 million funding 185 Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF) medical research grants worldwide over the past 21 years. Until her passing in 2011, Evelyn H. Lauder remained Chairman of BCRF, which she founded in 1993. The BCA Campaign raises awareness and funding for BCRF's research grantmaking program, which advances innovative breast cancer research worldwide.
